In Gunnar Ekelöf's footsteps
Tyrkiet 2010

We were a bunch of 40 people all interested and influenced by Ekelöfs lyric who had joined us for the Swedish Gunnar Ekelöf company's journey.

We were accommodated at a four star hotel in Istanbul's new district, introduced ourselves to each other and after dinner had an evening walk on the long pedestrian street Istiglal that goes up past the Swedish Consulate.

The following days we saw the old town, the city wall and the Pierre Loti mound. Spent the evening with dancing dervishes, at a fish restaurant in Kumkapi and out on the Bosphorus. A symposium was organized at the Swedish Research Institute
where we met the Turkish translator.

We left the hotel and drove by bus to Canakkale where we had an overnight stay. Then looked at the rubble in Troy and the next day went south to Pergamon and Ephesus, accommodated us at a five star hotel in Selcuk near Izmir.

On September 15, 2010, we celebrated Ekelöf's 103rd day with reading and lecturing at Artemis

the temple of Sardes. The river Paktalos may have dried out or we couldn't find it!
